Abstract
Foveal probability of detection functions at absolute threshold were measured as a function of wavelength using a two-alternative, temporal-forced-choice technique. It was found that the slopes of the z transforms of the probability of detection functions varied with wavelength; the shallowest slopes occurred in the short wavelengths, the steepest slopes occurred in the middle portion of the spectrum, and the slopes were of the intermediate value in the long wavelengths.
