Abstract
OBJECTIVES: To describe a procedure for closure of dural carotid-cavernous sinus fistulas using a superior ophthalmic vein (SOV) approach. METHODS: We have used the SOV approach on more than 30 patients with dural arteriovenous fistulas involving the cavernous sinus. RESULTS: We have a 100% success rate with no major complications using this technique. CONCLUSIONS: The SOV approach to dural arteriovenous fistulas involving the cavernous sinus is an effective and safe technique.
