Abstract

A number of activities have started to implement the 2007 National Research Council report on "Toxicity Testing in the 21st Century - A Vision and a Strategy." These activities aim to embrace modern technologies and base safety assessments on the mode of actions of toxicants. Molecularly defined pathways of toxicity are at the center of the approach, collectively forming the Human Toxome.
