Abstract
Tourette Syndrome is common disorder that is characterized by chronic motor and vocal tics. It often coexists with other neuropsychiatric disorders, including ADHD and OCD. There is evidence for genetic and environmental factors underlying the etiology. Anatomically, cortico-striatal-thalamo-cortical pathways have been implicated, but the precise pathophysiology remains under investigation. There is no cure for tics, however, a variety of behavioral and pharmacological therapies are currently used for symptom control.
