Abstract

We have described the most common routes of access for interventional procedures of the thorax. Each of these routes (ie, anterior, lateral, posterior, inferior, and superior) has anatomic specificities that have to be carefully considered to avoid postinterventional complications. Apart from selective indication for intervention and experience with interventional procedures, precise knowledge of anatomic details is mandatory for both successful diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in the thorax.
