Abstract

The growing importance of infrared (IR) imaging in medicine, along with improvements in thermal imaging camera technology is driving the development of coherent bundles from different materials transparent in the IR spectral range. This paper discusses efforts to develop practical, biomcompatible, high-resolution, long and flexible thermal imaging bundles. Topics discussed include IR imaging in medicine, IR imaging and themography in minimally invasive procedures, imaging bundles in the visible range, and IR imaging fiber bundles.
