note = "Funding Information: High-quality clinical and outcomes research in the peer-reviewed literature derived from all components of STS National Database, including the STS ACSD, continues to increase in quantity, quality, and depth of analyses. Importantly, the 2018 research output, more than any prior year, has involved a greater number of surgeons and investigators representing more adult cardiac surgery programs and institutions. Democratization of access to the highly representative national scale data uniquely available from the STS National Database has expanded substantially recently through the introduction of the PUF research program and the operationalization of several funded research opportunities, both through federal funding and institutional funding, through the STS Task Force on Funded Research (formerly the Task Force on Longitudinal Follow-up and Linked Registries).
