Abstract
The IVF and GIFT procedures are considered within the context of the pathophysiology of endometriosis. Follicular stimulation and response, oocyte recovery, fertilization rates, and pregnancy rates are addressed with respect to stages I to II endometriosis. The role of prior therapy for endometriosis, use of gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues, and operative endoscopy in association with the new reproductive technologies is explored.
