Abstract
Shortly after birth premature infants are highly susceptible to infection with the Fox type 3 attenuated poliovirus except in the presence of the highest titers of transplacentally acquired antibodies, and the majority of the infants, despite their immaturity, are able to respond to this antigenic stimulus by forming readily detectable titers of virus neutralizing antibodies.
