Abstract

This chapter presents the most recent estimates of preterm births around the world. The chapter focuses on describing global disparities in the burden of preterm births, the need for greater research on prevention and treatment interventions, and on the importance of increasing the translation of evidence into clinical practice, particularly in resource constrained settings.
