Abstract
Seasonal fluctuations in the birth rate in Bangladesh are large: there are twice as many births in December as July. Since contraception is not practised, these variations seem to result from sizeable fluctuations in coital frequency during the year. These variations may be due to temporary migrations of men who go off to harvest the crops in other areas of the country. These different explanations do not, however, account for the extent of the variation noted.-from English summary
