Abstract

A mannolipid synthesized by a membrane-rich fraction from rat liver in the presence of 15-¹⁴C-retinol and GDP-mannose-¹⁴C contained a polar metabolite of ¹⁴C-retinol, as well as ¹⁴C-mannose. Retinol stimulated the in vitro incorporation of ¹⁴C-mannose from GDP-mannose-¹⁴C into the mannolipid and glycoproteins.
