Abstract

The major aims of this article are to review the embryology of testicular descent; to provide an explanation for the mechanisms involved in the process of testicular descent; to discuss the pathogenesis and complications of the cryptorchid testis; and to summarize the rationale, timing, and methods available for correcting the undescended testis.
