Abstract

Information from short axis and long axis tagged magnetic resonance images was combined in 9 dogs with acute ischemia to yield a 3D reconstruction of 24 myocardial cuboids per heart. Both endocardial and epicardial surface stretches were calculated for each cuboid. The results indicate that the surface stretch clearly discriminates ischemie from remote normal regions, (p<0.01 and p< 0.005 for the epicardial and endocardial surfaces respectively), manifesting its potential as a reliable clinical index.
