N1 - Funding Information: The 25th Joint Conference on Cholera and Related Diarrheal Diseases, sponsored by the United States-Japan Cooperative Medical Science Program and the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, was held in Grand Canyon, Arizona, on 13-15 November 1989. This conference, held annually in either the USA or Japan, provides a forum for international communication and collaboration by investigators working on cholera and related diarrheal diseases. Over 80 persons attended the meeting, including 27 scientists from Japan. The meeting consisted of 37 presentations divided into several organism-and toxin-related sessions, most ofwhich are ssuummmarized below.
