note = "Funding Information: The 22nd Joint Conference on Cholera, sponsored by the United States-Japan Cooperative Medical Science Program and the Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Program of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, was held in Toyama City, Japan on 21-23 July 1986. This conference, which is held annually in either the United States or Japan, provides a forum for international communication and collaboration by investigators working on enteropathogenic bacterial infections. More than 100 persons from Japan and three other countries attended the conference. Three members of the United States Cholera Panel and seven additional American guests participated. The program consisted of the following sections: bacteriology, pathophysiology, immunology and control measures, genetics, and toxin studies.
