Abstract

Elevated blood glucose promotes lipogenesis via activating SREBP transcription factors. Tumors exhibit increased glucose uptake and lipogenesis, but the mechanisms controlling this are poorly understood. In this issue of Cancer Cell, Cheng and colleagues find that glucose activates SREBP by stabilizing SCAP, a central regulator of the SREBP pathway.
