Stromal tumours of the small intestine

Elizabeth Montgomery

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

In this chapter, small intestinal gastrointestinal stromal tumours are addressed together with other mesenchymal tumours of the small bowel, including smooth muscle tumours, vascular lesions, neural lesions, inflammatory fibroid polyp of the small intestine and sarcomas with characteristic translocations, especially clear cell sarcoma of the gastrointestinal tract, which usually arises in the small bowel. As the small bowel mesentery is the most common site for some conditions (mesenteric fibromatosis, sclerosing mesenteritis and inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour), they are briefly outlined here but also addressed elsewhere.
