Abstract

A comprehensive method for stochastic dynamic analysis of composite primary-secondary systems is developed. The method accurately accounts for tuning, interaction, non-classical damping, and spatial coupling, which are special characteristics of primary-secondary systems. Modal properties of the composite system are derived in terms of subsystem properties using modal synthesis and perturbation techniques, and are subsequently used in modal superposition rules that account for modal correlations and non-classical damping. The behavior of the system in response to both stationary and nonstationary excitations is studied.
