The well-known adjuvant action of the homoribopolymer complex, polyadenylic-polyuridylic acid (poly A:U) was extended to an in vitro system utilizing human peripheral blood leucocytes (PBL) and tonsillar tissue. IgG synthesis by PBL plaque-forming cell and (PFC) formation by tonsillar tissue were enhanced by poly A:U. In addition, natural cytotoxicity by PBL against the human myeloid cell line K-562 was increased by this nontoxic adjuvant and was markedly stimulated by the removal of an adherent cell population.
