Abstract

Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) works as a national accrediting agency for all the eye banks in the United States of America. It has established Medical Standards for eye banks and has standardized the training and certification of eye bank technicians. The chapter includes the concept of minimum standard requirements, laws on donation and regulatory affairs, eye bank laboratories which includes the donor eligibility criteria, recovery, processing and preservation of ocular tissues for transplantation, tissue evaluation, microbiological standards, tissue processing for specific surgical purposes and quality assurance programs. The chapter highlights the working of EBAA in general and some future aspects and improvements.
