note = "Funding Information: If we are to look forward to define our future agenda in adolescent health, we should first pause and glance backward to where we have come in the last decade, for even the most myopic cannot fail to see vast changes. In the decade of the 1980s: the American Academy of Pediatrics established a Section on Adolescent Health, the American Medical Association established a Division of Adolescent Health, the Society for Research on Adolescence was established, the ground work was laid for the establishment of adolescent medicine as a recognized subspecialty, 27 state health departments hired adolescent health coordinators, the International Association for Adolescent Health was established, and major coinmissions on youth have been convened by the W. T. Grant Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation, the Office of Technology Assistance of the United States Congress, and the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Science.",
