N2 - To the Editor: With regard to the findings of elevated histaminase activity in medullary carcinoma of the thyroid gland by Baylin et al. in the Journal (283:1239–1233, 1970), we should like to pass on the information that a few months ago, Dr. Jules L. Baum, of the New England Medical Center Hospitals, approached me about performing an intradermal histamine (1:1,000) test on one of our patients with multiple mucosal neuromas, medullary carcinoma of the thyroid gland and pheochromocytoma.
