Abstract

Background: The HIF-1 and HIF-2 transcription factors coordinate adaptive responses to hypoxia. Results: Sirt7 decreases HIF-1 and HIF-2 protein levels independent of its deacetylase activity. Conclusion: Sirt7 inhibits the activity of the HIF-1 and HIF-2 transcription factors. Significance: This study identifies Sirt7 as a regulator of HIF-1 and HIF-2 signaling.
