Abstract
This chapter examines the effects of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV at different life stages. It draws examples from an ongoing population-based cohort studies in rural Rakai District, southwestern Uganda. The chapter also highlights some of the social and behavioural risk factors for disease, as well as the social and health consequences of disease.
