Sarcoidosis

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Neurosarcoidosis can involve any component of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Most patients with neurosarcoidosis have systemic sarcoidosis but a sizable proportion of patients can present with neurological disease. Occasionally, patients only have neurological manifestations. First-line therapy is typically with corticosteroids but adjuvant immunosuppressant drugs are commonly used for severe or progressive disease; there is a trend to employ these agents early in patients who are at risk for chronic disease.
