Abstract

1. Standard-size Gastrografin-containing suppositories were inserted in 31 subjects to study the retrograde colonic spread of the contrast material. 2. In 20 of the 33 examinations, the mid-descending or more proximal colon was outlined during the 2-hr. study period. 3. This demonstration would seem to help explain the known effectiveness of therapentic suppositories in certain diseases of the colon.
