Abstract

A household interview survey of three disadvantaged communities was performed to better understand the influences affecting the type of health care sought. A probability sample of each community was used to insure comparability. Although some forces affecting health behavior were consistent among the three communities, significant differences were revealed. Health planners are urged to consider each community individually when planning changes or alternative organization of resources.
