Abstract

The papers referred to here are grouped in the proceedings of the conference under the heading: Some Aspects of CV (Cardiovascular) Regulation. The first (commentary) paper points out that the purpose of studying overall circulatory mechanics is that transport of substances, energy and information by the circulatory system forms the major basis of ″homeostasis″ and the circulatory transport cannot be understood without having good understanding of the interactions among the circulatory system components. One might also point out that coordination of controls of the circulatory system in toto has been suspected to be the cause of today's major medical problems, namely, hypertension and its derivative diseases. The participants of this session are concerned with overall circulatory control in such a context. The major medical problems discussed in this session include (a) hemorrhage, (b) vertical body tilt and (c) exercise. Put in other terms, these are the stresses by which the models were perturbed and the responses to which were to be simulated.
