Abstract

Understanding EM and elastic properties of porous polycrystalline materials in general and rocks in particular, requires an estimation of the role which grain surface chemistry and physics plays in these properties. This is especially true for low frequency phenomena in which the wave fields couple to molecular and diffusive processes in the pore space. The sensitivity of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance absorbtion to the chemical and physical environments of the resonating spins and its relatively large penetration depth have made it an important tool for studying absorption systems.
