Abstract

The research efforts of the past year reflect a desire to improve the recognition, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of depressive disorders. The quality of psychiatric care in general medical settings is still inadequate. To achieve a higher standard of care, collaboration between generalists and specialists rather than practicing traditional referral patterns will be essential.
