Abstract

There are many options available to the surgeon who undertakes the care of a patient with proximal femoral focal deficiency. He or she should be knowledgeable about the principles of care and the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Then, with the consent of the parents and that of the older patient, a plan can be outlined and implemented with due consideration of the patient's particular needs and development. Careful consideration is the key to success.
