In July 2010, the administration released a national strategic plan for HIV prevention and President Obama referred to the development and implementation of National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) as one of the administration's top HIV/AIDS policy priorities. The plan noted the reduction of new HIV incidence as a primary goal. In order to meet this goal, an immediate expansion of prevention efforts among the population of people living with HIV is critical. It is the intent of this chapter to provide a definition of Prevention with Positives (PwP) and highlight how this approach is important for achieving the goals of the NHAS. The chapter will also focus on behavioral risk reduction PwP services by examining the scope and costs of unmet needs, and the possible benefit of meeting these needs. In conclusion, some areas which require further exploration and research necessary to achieve the national strategic plan will be highlighted.
