Abstract
Prevention science has made great progress since the Institute of Medicine advocated the study of prevention of mental disorders in 1994. The literature suggests that depression prevention in children and adolescents is feasible and shows promising evidence for efficacy. The next phase is large-scale dissemination and implementation of evidence-based depression prevention interventions within systems that serve young people.
