Abstract

The decision to obtain further testing depends upon the pretest probability of CAD and the surgical procedure to be performed. Multiple testing modalities and strategies have been proposed to reduce cardiac risk. The optimal preoperative strategy depends upon which test has the best predictive value at the individual institution and how the results of those tests are used.
