Abstract
Emergency medical services are becoming an increasingly important aspect of health care delivery. Prehospital care providers, termed paramedics, follow established protocols and work under a medical director in implementing treatment on the scene. Special problems include the physician on the scene, issues of consent and liability, and the treatment of terminally ill patients
