Abstract

This review details the major database efforts in the field of congenital cardiac catheterization. Four database projects have been developed that relate to cardiac catheterization procedures in adult and pediatric patients with congenital heart disease. The IMPACT Registry TM (IMproving Pediatric and Adult Congenital Treatment) of the National Cardiovascular Data Registry of The American College of Cardiology Foundation, the Congenital Cardiac Catheterization Project on Outcomes (C3PO), the Congenital Cardiovascular Interventional Study Consortium (CCISC), and the Mid-Atlantic Group of Interventional Cardiology (MAGIC) Catheterization Outcomes Project represent the future of evidence based practice in congenital cardiac catheterization, and demonstrate the progress in collecting accurate information to define clinical outcomes and promote quality improvement.
