N2 - Methyl-2-cyanoacrylate monomer is an effective pancreatic sealing agent in the cat. This material was applied to the resectedpancreatic surfaces of 15 cats following pancreatic duct ligation and segmental resectionof the pancreas. In 15 control cats identicallyprepared, but without monomer application, observation at 1, 7, and 30 days revealed thepreparations to be associated with the formation of fistulas, pseudocysts, peripancreaticfat necrosis, and diffuse fibrous adhesions. In the 15 methyl-2-cyanoacrylate-treatedanimals, pancreatic juice leakage was effectively prevented, since these sequelae wereabsent, even though the plastic was locallyhistotoxic.
