Abstract
The prevention and control of infection is a major factor in the successful management of children with cancer. Recent advances in anticancer therapy and greater use of bone marrow transplantation have resulted in an expanding population of immunocompromised patients at high risk for opportunistic infections. As some problems with infectious diseases are solved, new problems arise.
