Microcomputer-based three dimensional medical image reconstruction

Abstract

Problems were studied of three dimensional medicine image reconstruction from serial cross-sections on microcomputer. First we used object interpolation to yield binary volume data of the organ studied, thus overcoming the shortcoming of linear gray-scale interpolation and reducing, the preprocessing time. Using improved scan-line coding' for data compression, the volume data was held in the basic memory of PC, and fast object rotation and manipulation were realized in the limited memory and processing source of the microcomputer.
