N2 - The authors review the indications, techniques, and complications of osteotomies of the greater and lesser metatarsals. Hallux valgus, hallux varus, pes cabus, intractable planta keratosis, brachymetatarsia, and bunionette are the indications discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of the Chevron, Mitchell, Kelal, Leventen, Hohman-Thomasen, Wilson and Wedge osteotomies are illuminated. Complications such as metatarsal shortening, transfer metatarsalgia, and avascular necrosis are addressed.
