Abstract

To the Editor: We wish to report our findings in children with measles encephalitis who were included in a prospective study of 29 children presenting with acute encephalopathies at London hospitals. Our findings differ from those of Johnson et al. (Jan. 19 issue).¹ Four patients in our study had measles encephalitis. Lymphocytes taken from them at presentation were incubated with myelin basic protein (provided by Dr. George Hashim, New York) in serum-free medium (Farrant J, et al.: unpublished data) at multiple concentrations (spanning those used by Johnson et al.) for 72 or 120 hours.
