Abstract

Recommendations are presented for advice and support to families with a member affected by dementia. This approach emphasizes education and psychotherapeutic intervention, but also includes potential use of respite services, community agencies, self-help groups, and other professionals. It is important to recall that relatives can often misunderstand the causes of a demented person's actions.
