During the past 10 years, the recognition and management of pediatric pain have been radically transformed. This chapter provides physicians who treat children with a primer in the assessment and of acute pediatric pain. Topics include pain assessment and the use of weak analgesics, opioids, patient-controlled analgesia, and epidural analgesia.
