note = "Funding Information: We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the winners of the 2003 AstraZeneca-sponsored Writing Competition for Residents and Fellows whose papers were published in UROLOGY. In 2003, we published 143 manuscripts that were first-authored by residents or fellows in Urology. Special thanks goes to Dr. Ralph Clayman for selecting the ten best papers. The Section and Associate Editors all voted for the top three papers. A $6000 award sponsored by AstraZeneca was divided among the top three award winners. First prize was awarded to Tracy Cannon, M.D., for “Improved Sphincter Contractility After Allogenic-Muscle-Derived Progenitor Cell Injection into the Denervated Rat Urethra” (UROLOGY 62: 958–963, 2003). Second prize was awarded to Michael Aleman, M.D., for “Age and PSA Predict Likelihood of Organ-Confined Disease in Men Presenting with PSA Less Than 10 ng/mL: Implications for Screening” (UROLOGY 62: 70–74, 2003). Third prize was awarded to Hannes Steiner, M.D., for “Frozen Section Analysis-Guided Organ-Sparing Approach in Testicular Tumors: Technique, Feasibility, and Long-Term Results” (UROLOGY 62: 508–513, 2003). We again are excited to announce that AstraZeneca, sponsor of this essay contest, has recently announced their continued support of the awards for 2004–2005 and urge residents/fellows to submit manuscripts for this contest. The Editorial Board joins me in congratulating these young investigators and in thanking AstraZeneca for their continued support of The Gold Journal. ",
