Abstract
We used a near full-length human ornithine δ-aminotransferase cDNA, huOAT6, as a probe under low stringency hybridization conditions to identify a new autosomal ornithine δ-aminotransferase-related sequence (OATL3). Cloning and characterization of this sequence reveal it to be a partial nonprocessed pseudogene corresponding to exon 3 and flanking intronic sequences of the ornithine δ-aminotransferase structural gene. Using somatic cell hybrids and fluorescence in situ hybridization, we mapped OATL3 to 10q26, adjacent to the ornithine δ-aminotransferase structural gene locus.
