Abstract

Research has not yet provided conclusive results regarding the effect of the normal aging process on laboratory values for common endocrine tests, such as oral glucose tolerance and glucocorticoid, thyroid, parathyroid, and gonadal function. We believe, however, that most of the findings described here deserve the attention of any physician who cares for elderly patients. It is important, though, not to attribute all abnormal test results to aging alone.
