Abstract

A patient with Marfan's syndrome had a rapidly progressive intercalary staphyloma. This defect apparently is rare in Marfan's syndrome, as are other varieties of staphylomata, despite the occurrence of weak connective tissue and abnormal sclera. The role of trauma in the pathogenesis of this staphyloma appeared, in part, to be contributory. A new scleral grafting technique was used to treat this staphyloma.
