Abstract
This article develops the application of Integral Theory to the theory of integral nursing and the Nightingale Initiative for Global Health (NIGH). NIGH is a catalytic, integrally informed, grassroots-to-global movement to honor and extend Florence Nightingale's (1820-1910) legacy. Nightingale passed her global vision to nurses and concerned citizens who might carry her work forward. Using Integral Medicine and healthcare lenses we explore how she urged humanity to extend the horizons of possibility, challenging us to remember who we are, what we do, and who we care for. The theory of integral nursing, relevant nurses' stories, and innovative NIGH projects related to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals are used as examples.
