Abstract

Calcium dynamics are a proxy for neuronal firing, yet studying those dynamics requires dissociation protocols that lead to cellular milieu that may differ significantly to the environments in intact animals. Also, traditional methods like patch clamp electrophysiology are very low throughput. In vivo calcium imaging of peripheral ganglia strives to overcome these limitations. In this chapter, we will discuss the development and procedures associated with this powerful new technique.
